Share With Your Teacher
Galatians 6:6 (AMP) Let him who receives instruction in the Word [of God] share all good things with his teacher [contributing to his support].
When is the last time you considered how your pastor pays his bills? I pray that you are one of those people who love and care for those that God has given you as pastors, mentors and teachers.
There are basic principles that govern the kingdom of God and the life of a believer. One of those is expressed quite well by Mark Hankins: “Your giving affects your gifting. It affects all grace.” The very nature of God is one of His being a Giver.” He is the ultimate Care Giver. He loves mankind so much that He gave His only begotten Son so that we would not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16).
It stands to reason that those who are made like Him should have the same nature. It is a matter of the heart. When we consider matters of the heart we come to realize that when a person separates from another in the heart, they will separate physically. People who leave your life have put you out of their hearts some time before they actually desert you. That’s why their declaration of, “I love you,” sounds so shallow when they have their hand on the door knob.
People give to what they value in their heart. I heard someone say that, “Sowing into others will open your heart.” This is the natural result of Christian faith and at the heart of our verse for today. The act of giving to, “those who watch for your souls,” is inextricably joined to praying for them.
Just as prayer breeds intimacy, so giving connects the heart. Be a giver and you will be a receiver of the giftings of grace that Jesus died to provide for you who are called by His name. God has entrusted to you the responsibility of caring for your teachers so that they can properly care for you.
As you do, get ready for an outpouring of God’s blessing to meet your need.
