Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: Philippians 2:6 (KJV)
Jesus the Christ of God, the Anointed One did not think it was wrong to be equal with God. What was really being spoken of here? How does that apply to those who are “in Christ.”
If you have ever said that you are after the God kind and have the fullness of God in you, you have probably seen eyes roll and heard something like, “You know that we’re supposed to be humble,” or, “That kind of pride goes before a fall.”
Well, people are destroyed due to a lack of knowledge (Hos. 4:6). Tradition and wrong teaching has left the Body of Christ weak, anemic and without their God-given stature and authority.
Let’s take a look at this often misunderstood verse. Form, morphe, is a word of great interest. It means, primarily, the form by which a person or thing strikes the vision. It can also mean, external appearance, but that is not the case here. Jesus, and every believer, is in the form that “strikes the vision” of God on the earth (causes the vision of God to come suddenly in the natural realm). God is seen in Him, and in us, as we are led by His Spirit who indwells us.
We as being found in Him are not to think, hegeomai ou, count ourselves as the leader or governor of being equal, isos, with God, but, by the Holy Spirit, are agreeing together in thought and deed with God. This is the essence of active righteousness; agreeing with and acting upon His will.
You see, Jesus was not, nor are we, saying that we are the same in physical form with God (God is a Spirit – John. 4:24). We are created in the image and likeness of God (Gen. 1:26; 5:3).
We are speaking spirits, like God Himself. His word spoken through our mouths has the same power as if it were spoken through His mouth (1 Pet. 4:11).
We are the demonstration of resurrection on earth; the manifested sons of God in spirit and truth.
