Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: Ephesians 1:3 (KJV)
God, our Father and the Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, has blessed, eulogeo, you and I. He has celebrated our lives and shown His favor by invoking blessings upon us by pronouncement.
This decree brings the full weight of His Word to bear, causing a release of all, pas, all things, each and every thing, all manner of spiritual blessings, pneumatikos.
Let’s look at this word translated, spiritual, pneumatikos. What is it telling us? A casual look would imply that what is in heaven’s storehouse is going to be used to bless us. Oh, but it is more than that, Beloved. It is saying that God, Himself, is going to bless us with all of who He is! Think about it. Isn’t that what He has done? He has filled us with Himself, God the Holy Spirit. That, Dear One, is abundantly above and beyond all that we might ask or think.
And, what about the word, blessings? The use of the Greek word, eulogia, reveals that this is to the praise and laudation of Christ and of God; a concrete benefit that is like a benediction upon our lives that brings Him glory, honor and praise. His impartation of Himself in the person of the Holy Spirit is His supreme gift of salvation.
What, then, of the term, heavenly places? The two words are, in fact, one Greek word, epouranios, which could be stated specifically as, existing in the heavenly temple or sanctuary. Thus, we see that what is being referred to is He who is in the heavenly holy of holies, the Christ of 2 Corinthians 3:17 (KJV): “Now the Lord is that Spirit: . . .”, and He that is spoken of in 1 John 4:4 (KJV): “. . . greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”
This is heavenly spiritual blessings. Selah.
