Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment: Acts 15:24 (KJV)

They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. 1 John 2:19 (KJV)

You’ve put so much time, energy and hope into that person and they turn on you, break your heart, go into error and even slander you. Even Paul the Apostle struggled with the same experiences. Such is the suffering of the minister of the Gospel.

Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. John 15:20 (KJV)

No matter how many tear at your dream, shred your hope, or trample your character, you must keep on by keeping your eyes on Jesus the Author and Completion of your faith. Stay focused on pleasing Jesus and not man and you will eventually find a Timothy that will encourage you and gladden you heart.

This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare; Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck: Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme. 1 Timothy 1:18-20 (KJV)

God will give you spiritual sons who love God like you do. He will strengthen you so that you can “war a good warfare, holding faith, and a good conscience.” Keep looking for the ones that will catch your heart beat and carry your vision to completion.
